It’s still Winter. By this point I am ready for Summer and I think that’s the same for many people, especially with these storms we’ve been having. The wind, rain and cold is just not nice anymore but that means a perfect excuse to have a cosy night in. With half term coming up for many people and university students having deadlines coming up, who will probably need some relaxation afterwards, I wanted to share some of my favourite ways to have a relaxing cosy night in by yourself. A lot of these tips can apply if you want to invite some friends over too.
First, now this should happen before the night in starts but having a clean tidy room makes all the difference. It feels amazing having just got out the shower, putting clean pyjamas on and getting into bed with clean sheets. So, as much as you probably don’t want to do this but spend an hour cleaning your room the day of your cosy night in. I’m sure other people feel the same but I can’t fully relax without my room being tidy, so this is a must for me!
Secondly, a good film/tv show/book, just your favourite form of entertainment really. For me I will typically opt for the film, normally a romance/rom com. This just gives you at least 1 and a half hours of doing nothing and escaping reality for a bit. Some of my favourite night in watches are, Legally Blonde, To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before 1 and 2, This Kissing Booth, The Duff, After, and too many more to say. If you can’t tell I quite like some of the Netflix originals as well!!
Thirdly, pamper yourself! Do a face mask, paint your nails, even spend an hour in the bath if you want to. Just spend this time on you feeling your best self.
Lastly, drinks/snacks. Now this is probably an unpopular opinion but I don’t normally eat during films but if I do I like to have popcorn, specifically sweet. Food for your night in though shouldn’t make you feel guilty, if you want chocolate or sweets, have it, but if you simply want an apple, go for it. I can’t stress this enough but this night is about you. In the Winter, I would like to have a hot drink such as tea or hot Ribena, but also a glass of water on the side. However, if you want alcohol though, go for it, but just drink responsibly and stay safe, you don’t want to wake up in the morning having to recover from your supposedly relaxing night in.
I hope this inspires you to have a cosy, relaxing night in.
Have a lovely week!!
