So, I had an idea that the last day of every month I would do an overview of the past month and what better way to start it then at the end of January!
January was filled with joy, excitement and stress. From seeing the pantomime and the new ‘Little Women’ film to going back to university and it being non stop. This month really has thrown every emotion at me!
Let’s go back to the beginning though. It started with being incredibly British and seeing the pantomime ‘Robin Hood and the Merry Men’. It was the perfect way to end the festive season with my family. Then my mum and I went to the cinema to see ‘Little Women’ which was even better than I was expecting. Neither my mum or I had read the book and to be honest I didn’t know it was based on a book until I looked it up on Google! The cast, setting, editing and directing just blew me away. Since watching the film I have started to read the book and I am interested to see the comparison between the two.
Just as quick as the Christmas holiday started, it had ended. Before I knew it I was packing up half my room again to go back to university. Now, as much as I love uni, it would have been nice to have a little bit of a longer break! These first 3 weeks have flown by, and it has been filled with laughter, stress and feeling overwhelmed. I have had assignment results back (which I am very happy with!!), the hunt for somewhere to live in second year and being promoted to Website Features Editor for my university paper. All of that has happened on top of my studies, part time job and social life but of course I have been keeping up with ‘Dancing on Ice’ on ITV!
Since my dad’s birthday is in January and after I went back to university, we went out for a meal as a family before I left. However, not long after that I got my rota through and I wasn’t working on his birthday, which was perfect. My mum, dad and brother all came down and we went out to the local beach, had lunch in a lovely castle café and a stroll along the cold seafront, the day was relaxing and one to remember.
With these monthly overviews, I want to include something that I have learnt. This month has definitely been to appreciate the big and little moments in each day. Whether that’s a whole day like my dad’s birthday or simply finishing a task that has taken me a while. Doing this has honestly turned my not so good days around and kept a smile on my face on the great days.
Let me know what you think of this series. Have a lovely week!
